Growing in popularity as an important element of health and wellness, massage therapy can help treat headaches, neck stiffness and pain, arthritis, sports injuries, stress and more.
Specialized therapies available include:
Therapeutic Massage – Soft tissue manipulation to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasms, stress, and to promote health and wellness. It is a large term that uses deep tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy to work on a specific injury or dysfunction. An example is frozen shoulder or a tear or a sprain strain.
Remedial Exercise – Stretch and mobility exercises to perform in your home between rehabilitation treatments.
Pregnancy Massage – Therapeutic massage done with the use of special maternity pillows that cradle and support the belly. Healthy for baby and relaxing for mom.
Sport Massage – Therapeutic massage within training and competition guidelines to help improve athletic performance and prevent injury.
Fire Cupping – The placement of heated glass cups on the area of complaint to increase circulation and decrease adhesions. It creates a suction which lifts and separates the tissues below therefore increasing the fluid flow as well as blood flow, bringing in nutrition to the area. It is very effective for clients who have the thick fascial adhesions, low back pain and fascial release. It is great on the hamstrings, quads and ITB and difficult adhesions.
Thai Yoga Massage – is a sequence of facilitated stretching which includes pressure points along the energy or Sen Lines. I find it is a very effective way to relieve chronic low back pain and increase overall flexibility and increase circulation. It is a fully clothed treatment which takes place on a mat on the floor. It is a head to toe treatment which I have condensed into 1 hour. But the preferable treatment time for this is 90 min.
Craniosacral Therapy – Florida is a treatment that focuses on relaxing the nervous system, by increasing the cerebral spinal fluid flow in the spinal cord. This treatment is very effective for headaches, migraines, chronic and acute low back pain, rib subluxation, post-natal symptoms, MS, Parkinsons, anxiety, concussions, sprains, strains and complete tears. This is a great post-surgery treatment for hips, knees, shoulders, and ankles.
Visceral Manipulation – Focuses on the internal organs and their environment. It assists functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including the musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic system. It evaluates and treats the dynamics of motion. It increases the proprioceptive communication within the body. It relieves symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture by relieving the fascial tension patterns. This treatment if useful for many different injuries or post-surgery. It helps to decrease adhesions from surgeries, or injuries. This treatment also helps with peristalsis of the colon, decreases adhesions in the small intestines, helps tonify the bladder and release adhesions and swelling.
L.A.S.T – Ligamentous Articular Strain Technique is the manipulation of the tissues surrounding the capsules or ligaments to increase local tissue viscosity. It is a slow deep tissue technique very good for supraspinatus, biceps tendinitis, sciatica, or any other nerve restriction.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage – Is a light treatment which encourages the drainage of the lymph. It carries the waste products away from the tissues back to the organs. The skin is stretched and torqued in a specific manner that has proven to encourage lymphatic flow and drainage of the tissues. It is a nice treatment that decreases swelling in specific areas.
